Relationship between Human Resource Development Strategies and Staff Productivity in Psychiatric Hospitals Affiliated to Iran University of Medical Sciences

Abstract
Introduction: A main goal of organizations is to improve productivity of their staff to achieve effectiveness and efficiency of the organizations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between human resource development strategies and staff productivity in psychiatric hospitals.
Methods: This was a cross-correlational study. The study participants included 160 managers and supervisors of the health departments and hospital matrons at Iran University of Medical Sciences. Data were collected using a 30-item questionnaire designed by the researchers to measure human resource strategies and a 21-item questionnaire to measure employee productivity. Data were analyzed in the Amos-21 using the structural equation modeling.
Results: The results of the study showed that there was a positive significant relationship between the human resource development strategies with employee productivity in hospitals (regression coefficient: 0.873).
Conclusion: Development of human resources strategies and implementation of strategic initiatives in areas such as decision-making and planning, human resources, supply manpower efficiency, effective employee performance evaluations, salary and bonus systems and manpower training was significantly related with efficiency improvement among the employees.
